SAN JOSE, Calif. Brent Hudson has been named president of Tality Corp., the design services subsidiary of Cadence Design Systems Inc., succeeding Bob Wiederhold, who resigned for "personal" reasons, the company said.
Hit hard by reduced spending for design services, Tality laid off about 15 percent of its work force earlier this year, which led Cadence to take a $66 million charge for restructuring in the second quarter.
Prior to his appointment as president, Hudson headed Tality's Wireless Design Group since Tality's formation in July 2000. He had held the same position in Cadence's design services group from 1998 to 2000. He was previously vice president of Symbionics Ltd., a wireless and digital TV design services firm acquired by Cadence in 1998.
Wiederhold, who has been running Cadence's services business since 1998, will continue to serve on Tality's board of directors and as a consultant to Cadence.
