Two UK companies have merged to create a power and microwave components specialist they claim is "second to none". The move is a prelude to further expansion.
GD Rectifiers, a custom power semiconductors manufacturer and supplier, is joining with Testime Technology, a supplier of military and industrial ICs and microwave comms components.
Gordon Pirie, of Basingstoke-based Testime, will serve as joint MD with Graham Taylor of Burgess Hill-based GD. The merged company will trade as GD Testime.
"We are amalgamating the two businesses so our sales will be conducted from Basingstoke and production of rectifiers from Burgess Hill," said Pirie. "The two of us get a power semiconductor line-up second to none in the UK and production in rectifiers."
He says the merger will lead to group sales of £2.5m, and that the company will be expanding its 19-strong headcount.
Customers will benefit from having a single source for the supply of power and microwave components.
