Livingston has announced additions to its portfolio of test equipment services, Contract Rental and Leasing programmes
It is hoped that the programmes will offer Livingston's customers new alternatives to buying equipment outright. Microwave and wireless test equipment is included in the company's portfolio.
The Contract Rental scheme allows customers to rent a piece of equipment for a minimum of three month with an option to buy after six months. Rental rates are decreased the initial three-month period, and the customer can opt to the Operating Lease scheme after six months. The scheme is inclusive of calibration and replacement.
The Operating Lease service has two options, the standard and the purchase option. The standard lease allows customers to rent equipment for a period between 2-5 years with or without maintenance services. The purchase option is the same as the standard, but with the option to buy the asset at the end of the contract.
The programmes have been established for test products valued at 50,000 euros ($42.8 thousand) or over.
In addition, at a press conference yesterday (Monday 18 June), Livingston detailed its strategy for the future and explained further about its calibration management services.
The company has recently established two new calibration sites in France, one in Bordeaux, and one in Hontreuil (Paris). Livingston now has 37 such sites throughout Europe. The new French sites supply systems and services to test and calibrate the performance of electronic equipment under extreme climatic conditions for customers such as Thomson-CSF, Alcatel, Sagem and Aerospatiale.
Further expansion, in both European and worldwide markets, is expected in the future, but no strategic decisions have yet been taken. Livingston's CEO, Mel Porter, believes that the company still has a lot to do in Europe, but wants to tap in to the potential emerging markets of South America and SE Asia.
