IXYS Corp. recorded a net loss of $1.1 million, or 3 cents per share, on sales of $35.5 million in its third 2003 fiscal quarter ended December 31. In the year-ago quarter, the Santa Clara, Calif., semiconductor supplier lost $105,000, or zero cents per share, on sales of $16.1 million.
The higher revenue was attributed to strong product sales in consumer and telecom markets, according to Nathan Zommer, IXYS' chief executive. However, operating expenses rose as the company merged the operations of Clare Inc., the Beverly, Mass., semiconductor supplier IXYS acquired in May 2002.
For the nine-month period ended December, IXYS reported a net loss of $4.8 million, or 16 cents per share, on revenue of $98.3 million, compared to a net income of $2.5 million, or 9 cents per share, on sales of $62.4 million in the nine-month period a year-ago.
IXYS projects revenues in its March quarter to rise 5 to 7% sequentially
