Norwood, Mass. - A 16-bit, 550-ksample/second redistribution successive approximation register analogto-digital (A/D) converter from Analog Devices Inc., in a 10-lead MSOP, is said to offer a combination of size, speed and precision beyond that of other products in the category. The converter operates from a single power supply as low as 2.7 volts.
In addition to 16-bit performance with "zero data latency" and no missing codes, the AD7686 offers integral nonlinearity of plus/minus 3 least significant bits maximum, a signal-to-noise ratio of 89 dB typical at 10 kHz.
The part is sampling now, with production scheduled to begin in December. Hardware factory-calibrated using a CMOS process and specified from -40 degrees to +85 degrees C, it's priced in 1k quantities at $12.
