SANTA CLARA, Calif. " Power MOSFET vendor Siliconix Inc., a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. on Wednesday (Oct. 29) reported net income of $9.6 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 27 on sales revenue of $97.4 million.
Net income was up sequentially on a net income of $9.3 million in the second quarter, but down on net income of $13.3 million reported in the same period last year.
Third-quarter sales were 10 percent better than sales of $88.2 million for the second quarter, and up 1 percent on sales of $96.1 million for the third quarter of 2002.
"Bookings continued their upward trend, as our book-to-bill ratio for the third quarter of 2003 increased to 1.2, compared to 1.1 for the second quarter and 0.9 for the first quarter," King Owyang, Siliconix president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"In addition, our backlog at the end of the third quarter was 31 percent greater than the backlog at the end of the second quarter, and it is at the highest level since December 2000," Owyang added.
