Tustin, Calif. - Cherokee International's CAR0548, in the company's CAR Rectifier series, is a 1U sized product that delivers 500 watts from a universal input. It's suitable for distributed power architectures and DC/DC systems for optical router equipment, enterprise networks, and wireless applications. The CAR0548, measuring 1.59 by 3.38 by 10.19 inches, comes in two versions: 10.4 amps at 48 volts for use in front-end power supplies; and 9.25 amps at -54 volts for telecom and battery charging applications.
These rectifiers come with integrated redundant diodes and a thermally controlled fan to enable operation from -40 to +70 C. Additional features include hot-swap capability, active load-sharing, output current readout, output-voltage programming, and remote on/off functionality. Protection circuitry guards against input under- and over-voltage, output over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature.
An accompanying rack, the ACE05, comes in a four-module redundant hot-swap configuration, which offers scalability to 2 kW. The rack comes with a low-voltage disconnect (LVD) feature and a controller with universal power-monitoring functions and a comprehensive set of alarms and status indicators. System control is achieved via one of three methods: a basic analog function, a digital controller area network (CAN) bus, or an I²C bus interface. A basic version of the rack is offered without the monitoring control and LVD features to allow room for an additional CAR0548 (total of five, 2.5 kW maximum).
The CAR0548 modules are priced at $275 each in OEM quantities. Samples are available from stock.
