San Diego, US and Edinburgh, UK, -- March 22, 2004 --Wolfson Microelectronics plc introduced a new high-speed, high-performance analog front-end (AFE) circuit for use in flatbed scanners and multi-function printers (MFP). In both applications the WM8214 provides a single effective solution without the expense of incorporating analog circuits in a complex, proprietary processor design. The highly integrated WM8214 features a 40MSPS conversion rate, a new flexible clocking scheme, and backwards compatibility with current Wolfson WM819x products.
The WM8214 incorporates a 16-bit ADC, flexible clamp control with programmable clamp voltage, one-, two- or three-channel operation, with a serial control interface. The device operates at low power (390mW typical) on a 3.3V single supply operation with input video signals from 0.25V to 2.5V (max).
The WM8214 is available in a 28-pin SSOP package, pin compatible with WM8199, for $3.49 in quantities of 1,000.
