In the latest phase of its ongoing reorganization, Plexus Corp. said it will close its manufacturing facility in Bothell, Wash., near Seattle.
The closure comes as the Neena, Wis.-based electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider announced a $10 million to $13 million restructuring program for fiscal 2005, which according chief executive Dean Foate, will allow the company to increase capacity utilization and "align our service offering with the evolving preferences of our customers."
Operations of the Bothell facility have been replicated and transferred to other Plexus locations, primarily in the U.S., the company said.
The consolidation, expected to be completed by the end of Plexus' fiscal 2005 second quarter next March will reduce the company's manufacturing capacity by 100,000 sq. ft. and affect approximately 160 employees.
