Agility Logistics Solutions Ltd. announced plans to expand its global footprint by acquiring freight forwarder LEP International, a network of logistics companies operating in the Asia Pacific region.
Under an agreement announced today, Agility will acquire LEP International Pty Ltd. in Australia, LEP International (NZ) Ltd. in New Zealand, and Pan Orient Shipping Services Pty Ltd., which trades under the name of AFS Projects and Logistics. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
LEP and Pan Orient operate throughout Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia. Agility, which does business primarily in Europe and North America, holds a 25 percent equity stake in both LEP companies, and has previously partnered with Pan Orient on projects within the mining industry.
By acquiring the companies outright, Agility aims to become one of the major logistics players in the ANZ region, said Wolfgang Hollermann, CEO of Asia Pacific operations for Agility.
