Although other chip companies have announced agreements with system-level manufacturers that call for integrating their chipsets in system-level products, the Belkin/Wisair announcement marks the first intent to launch a system-level product before Christmas.
"Wisair's UWB technology provides superior performance and robustness that clearly meets our usability criteria," said Mark Reynoso, Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing for Belkin. "We look forward to making our 4-port Cable-Free USB Hub available to customers in mid-December. People will now have the freedom to place their USB devices anywhere in the room without the hassle of running cables."
The hub's retail price is expected to be about $200.
"We are excited about our collaboration with Belkin," said David Yaish, CEO of Wisair. "We are committed to continue delivering high-performance chipsets and technology based on industry standards, to enable interoperable products with outstanding user experience."
