TDK Corporation has today announced the launch of the C0402 series of MLCC capacitors. The C0402 facilitates increased design flexibility, sleeker end products and a reduction in surface mount area through its reduced dimensions, consistent high performance and a broad range of capacitance values.
The C0402 series of multilayer ceramic chip capacitors offers a package size of only 0.40mm x 0.20mm x 0.20mm. With reduced dimensions, high performance and a broad range of capacitance values, the C0402 series facilitates increased design flexibility, sleeker end products and a reduction in surface mount area.
The C0402 series is available with either C0G or X5R dielectrics. The C0G-dielectric parts offer capacitance values from 0.5pF to 15pF, with tolerances as low as ±0.25pF. The X5R-dielectric parts cover capacitance values ranging from 100pF to 10,000pF, with tolerances rated at ±10% throughout.
The range of available capacitances means this series can be utilised in bypass, decoupling, smoothing, filtering and power applications. The reduced dimensions make the series particularly suitable for use in RF-modules, PAM (Power Amplifier Modules) for portable electronic devices and cellular phones.
Advancements in materials coupled with thinner layer technology and improved production processes, have allowed the series to downsize whilst maintaining comparable performance. The operating temperature range for this series is rated from -55 to +125°C for the C0G-dielectric parts, and from -55 to +85°C for the X5R-dielectric parts.
The C0402 series is available now, supplied either in volume tape-and-reel packaging or in sample books for testing purposes.About TDK Electronics Europe GmbH
