LONDON Flat panel color display technology specialist Uni-Pixel is working with the MiPlaza prototyping facility in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, part of the Philips organization, to develop and assemble prototypes of Uni-Pixel's Time Multiplexed Optical Shutter technology.
As part of the deal, Philips and Uni-Pixel have concluded a technology and know-how license agreement.
Uni-Pixel, (The Woodlands, TX.) said the technology, on which it has been working for several years and for which it holds numerous patents, is now near to commercialization. The company is looking to license the IP for the TMOS technology to LCD manufacturers.
The MiPlaza (Microsystems Plaza) is a part of Philips Research and offers expertise, service and infrastructure to high tech organizations inside and outside Philips.
The companies will work together on the completion of various sub-systems and assembly processes for the TMOS TFT back-planes that will result in a series of demonstration units that are expected to be finished by the end of the year.
"The expanded relationship leverages core competencies and infrastructure offered by MiPlaza that can expedite the delivery of TMOS prototypes over what UniPixel might deliver on its own," commented Reed Killion, president of Uni-Pixel.
