Tony Johnson, our friend, colleague and mentor, a legend and the creator of the Pan-European electronics media in 1972 when he launched Electronic Product News passed away at the age of 68 "on duty" in Nuremberg where he was attending the Embedded World Conference.
Over his long and successful career of Sales and Marketing Director with Reed Elsevier and CMP Electronics, Tony met and became friends with all advertising directors of all major electronics companies in the world from Silicon Valley to Japan, Taiwan and Korea and obviously in Europe where he witnessed the many up and down cycles of the industry.
However tough the business was, he always kept saying: The amount of business you get is directly proportional to the number of doors you knock on; and he kept on knocking and selling in his most personal ways and manners until his last moments.
The entire electronics media is sad today and I know that all those who got to know Tony are joining me to offer their condolences to his wife and family.
