NETANYA, Israel Optical network gear maker Padtec S/A (Campinas, Brazil) has acquired Civcom Ltd. (Petah Tikva, Israel), an optoelectronic module manufacturer.
Civcom's CEO Meron Raz, who spoke with EETimes Europe , declined to specify the financial terms of the deal, but assured that the Israeli startup will "continue to operate as usual, as an independent company, which might expand its work force."
Civcom focuses on tunable transponders with integrated optical dispersion compensation technologies and manageable dispersion compensator modules, targeting the high data-rate communications, avionics and military sectors.
According to the companies, the Civcom acquisition came about as a consequence of Padtec's international expansion strategy and follows the opening of new branch offices in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico.
Padtec is the largest optical communications equipment manufacturer in South America.
