LONDON Altium Ltd. (Sydney, Australia) has been voted the most popular provider of PCB layout tools, beating Mentor Graphics, Cadence and Zuken in a poll open to EE Times Europe readers.
Readers were asked to vote for company they thought provides the best printed circuit board layout EDA tools. Altium scored 30 percent of the vote, ahead of Mentor with 23 percent, Cadence with 17 percent and Zuken with 13 percent. The remaining 17 percent of the votes were for a "none of the above" category.
The vote is a non-scientific "straw poll" with a self-selecting audience of EE Times Europe readers.
The popularity vote contrasts with recent market-share statistics from consultancy Gary Smith EDA, which shows Mentor with 43 percent, Cadence with 28 percent, Zuken holding 13 percent and Altium having 8 percent. This leaves 8 percent of the market held between other vendors, according to Gary Smith EDA.
The next poll asks readers to indicate where they would place venture capital bets. Readers can vote in the left-hand column of the EE Times Europe home page.
