LONDON ; Atmel and French contactless card system developer TazTag (Rennes) are collaborating to develop a secure NFC module that can be used to protect personal data.
Initially, the design will use Atmel's AT98SC016CU security module in a NFC electronic wallet designed by TazTag which will incorporate fingerprint recognition and be used for applications such as access control, ticketing and payment.
The intention is to create a secure electronic wallet with a touch screen, a fingerprint sensor and supporting communications interfaces, such as NFC, USB and ZigBee.
The so-called TazCard comes in a credit card format that is just 6 mm thick.
An optional Java Software Development Kit makes possible the easy addition of customized applications.
