MUNICH, Germany Infineon sites in Asia are working far below capacity. The company denied to break down utilization rates by fab, but provided figures more or less in line with the industry-wide average.
According to sources close to the company, Infineon's power devices production site in Kulim (Malaysia) is hitting record low utilization levels. At that site, the company produces power devices for industrial and automotive customers.
An Infineon spokesperson declined to confirm the information. He said the company in general does not break down utilization by production site. On average, Infineon's utilization rate currently is between 50 and 60 percent, he added.
