PARIS Synopsys, Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.) and Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (Hsinchu,Taiwan) have gone one step further in their business relations.
Synopsys has become Realtek's primary EDA partner and as such Realtek said it will license Synopsys' Galaxy Implementations, Discovery Verification and Confirma Rapid Prototyping Platforms.
"Through years of cooperation and expanded use of Synopsys technology, we have demonstrated success in our ability to design high performance, energy-efficient products in a cost-effective manner," stated Alex Chiu, CEO of Realtek.
Going forward, Chiu said Synopsys will continue to take advantage of Synopsys' technical support to drive enhancements in design efficiency and accelerate new product development.
Realtek started using Synopsys' DesignWare IP core for PCI Express to develop Realtek's RTL8168L Gigabit Ethernet Controller five years ago. The collaboration between the two companies enabled Realtek to be one of the first to offer a single-chip Gigabit Ethernet solution with a PCI Express interface.
Similarly, in 2007, Realtek adopted Synopsys' Design Compiler topographical technology to reduce the design cycle time for its communications network, computer peripheral and multimedia products by more than 30 percent.
