MUNICH, Germany Continental has a system under development that includes car-to-car communications for clear ice warning systems. Such as system would be superior to current temperature sensors since drivers can be warned ahead of dangerous situations, the company says.
The system would use the wireless car-to-car communication scheme to transmit warning messages. The messages could be derived from the information of conventional temperature sensors as well as from the driving slip regulation system and from the electronic stability program (ESP).
At the same time, the company announced the availability of a new sensor generation that reacts faster and is smaller than former models.
