LONDON The world's number two foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (Hsinchu, Taiwan) has reported sales revenue for April down 1.7 percent on sales revenue for March. Sales were up 35 percent on what they were in the same month a year before.
UMC reported net sales of NT$9.32 billion (about $296 million) for the month of April 2010, down 1.7 percent on the previous month and up 35.5 percent from a year before. This shows a return to more normal seasonal behavior as the sales crash of 2009 begins to unwind in the comparative figures.
For the period January to April UMC's sales were NT$36.03 billion (about $1.14 billion), up 103 percent from the equivalent period in 2009.
