LONDON Electrowetting display provider Liquavista BV (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) has announced the launch of a display platform for transflective displays called LiquavistaVivid.
LiquavistaVivid offers a bright monochrome reading experience both indoors and outdoors, while also supporting video and color on demand, the company said.
Depending on environment and application, LiquavistaVivid displays can switch from a paper-like monochrome mode, to a color-rich multimedia mode. This allows Liquavista displays to support power-hungry video and low-power static reading modes, the company said. The size of display possible with LiquavistaVivid was not discussed.
The LiquavistaVivid transmissive mode is based on field-sequential color principles. When operated in reflective mode, the same performance as LiquavistaBright displays is produced. When the backlight is operated, the display is capable of showing color. Liquavista's display is compatible with LCD display manufacturing equipment and processes, the company said.
