SAN JOSE, Calif. -- CoorsTek Inc., a manufacturer of ceramic and specialty
material components, has signed a definitive agreement to purchase the advanced
ceramics business of Saint-Gobain for about $245 million.
Under the agreement, CoorsTek (Golden, Colo.) will acquire the Advanced
Ceramics business held by Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials, a supplier of
materials and components made from ceramics, grains, and powders.
These products include hot surface igniters, electro-ceramic parts, ceramic
balls and special components. In 2009, Saint-Gobain's Advanced Ceramics business
reported sales of 135 million euros, with more than 1,100 employees spread out
over 14 sites in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
