Over the years, Media Tek has increased their technical capability considerably. The LTE tieup with Docomo should help them have a larger market share in the mobile phone market. Motorola has a nice series of white papers on LTE, with one providing a technical overview (http://business.motorola.com/experiencelte/pdf/LTETechnicalOverview.pdf) and some business/operator overview (http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Business/Solutions/Industry%20Solutions/Service%20Providers/Network%20Operators/LTE/_Document/LTE_Documents/Static_Files/LTE%20Systems%20Overview%20Brochure.pdf?localeId=33). Qualcomm and others also have related info. Basically, LTE is highly data centric using IP protocol with voice becoming primarily VOIP.
