Great news! A couple more billions to flow Cisco's 'Systems'way. It is just amazing how Cisco continues to discover new markets and to produce the various devices that dominate such markets.

Its interesting to see Cisco entering the Smart Metering segment, and Itron is a nice partner to get started. With the govt. push for "Smart" metering, it surely will pay well in the long run to have acquired specialists in Arch Rock.Itron itself seemed to have good solutions for LPRF in the Sub GHz bands for metering. I believe, some of their networks used Handhelds to communicate with nodes and too store data.

Also, I am a little surprised to see the number as low as 17% . Especially, for all the new grid projects, it is important to have advanced metering infrastructure in place. The peak load can be managed and hence grids can come up with reasonable sizes and investments.

True, After Cisco gave pretty negative outlook numbers it has no choice but to innovate itself to keep its financial numbers look healthy.
