As far as I'm concerned IR remote controls are an anachronism that needs to finally be put to rest. Unless they somehow did something interesting to advance the technology (Sense what CE device is there? Get the state of the device before blindly blasting commands?) then this is just a case of creeping featuritis. Larry M.

Samsung and HTC made Android based smartphones have already put a lot of pressure to Apple iPhone. How will Lumigon affect the standing of Apple iPhone? The 2 features - universal remote control and HDMI output - are really nice. With the HDMI output, the smartphone can already be the Google TV STB. The Android based device is getting really interesting.

The only interesting feature is the HDMI output on the docking station, if it can provide a good internet experience then it can replace the tablet at home. Users can connect it to a dock and with wireless keyboard we have a big computer. But does the dock also have mouse and keyboard interface. I don't think we have to use the phone keypad while looking at the picture on the computer monitor/HDTV screen.

The specs except for the speakers & Univ Remote is very ordinary. Why would I want to buy a Android phone from a newish company when I can get one from samsung/htc/moto ?

Thats sounds very exciting. The universal remote feature is definitely unique. What is the price? and who is the competitor?

David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering. We talk with Patterson and one of his colleagues behind the effort about the opportunities they see, what new kinds of designs they hope to enable and what it means for today’s commercial processor giants such as Intel, ARM and Imagination Technologies.
