Wolfson Microelectronics has been selected by mobile multimedia processing specialist Movidius to deliver audio performance and power management to its Myriad 3D platform reference and development boards. Movidius has incorporated Wolfson's integrated the WM8312 and WM8987 into its Myriad 3D mobile development system.
The WM8312 provides a flexible single-chip solution for low-power portable applications, and is specifically designed to operate as a system power management IC supporting a variety of industry-standard processors and accessories in a wide range of applications.
Wolfson's WM8987 stereo codec device is designed for portable digital audio applications and integrates complete interfaces to stereo or mono microphones. External component requirements are reduced as no separate microphone or headphone amplifiers are required, on-chip digital signal processing performs equalisation, 3D sound enhancement and automatic level control for the microphone or line input.
Wolfson's audio and power management technology also features in reference designs for Movidius' first Myriad 3D product, the recently-announced MV1133. This silicon and software platform is capable of a range of 3D functions, including the ability to preview, capture and process high quality user-generated 3D video and images on a mobile phone, converting any 2D video to 3D in real time, and upscaling and playback of content in HD.
