This is great news! Texas is a good state to expand due to land and local tax-breaks for many large companies. This is also good for the job market too. Yes, I live in Texas.

This is good news for USA in general and EE community in perticular. We wish many more Korean and other vendor follows Samsung's iniciatives.

@navi2582, I think samsung is doing good in smartphone market and tablet market. I guess this will somewhat offset the apple effect.

This is good news for new grads and engineers with experience in the semi-conductor field. We need more companies like Samsung to start hiring.

Not really. Austin experienced slow down in later 2008 and early 2009. Overall, high-tech job market has been great in Austin past few years.

This coupled with the Intel expansion in Phoenix is a good sign that hiring and expansion plans are starting to take hold in the semi industry. The fact that these are US-based jobs is even better.
