The cost for raw materials used in the manufacture of wafers is going up. I would also expect the Japan situation to affect supply and that also may make the wafer costs go up more.

All commodity prices for raw materials are rising due to inflation. Most semiconductor things are valued in dollars. The US government has an irresponsible inflationary fiscal policy. Wafers are manufactured using commodities and are themselves a commodity. What would one expect to happen?
