Lattice Semiconductor and UBM Electronics today announced the Lattice “Do-it-All PLD” Design Challenge (www.LatticePLDChallenge.com). The objective of the Design Challenge is to foster a social community in which electronics engineering contestants can use the Lattice MachXO2 Pico Development Kit to create designs for evaluation by a panel of expert judges.
“We are excited to sponsor the ‘Do-it-All PLD’ Design Challenge and eager to see the innovative designs that will result from using MachXO2 devices,” said Shantanu Dhavale, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Low Density Solutions. “Ultra-low power, combined with unique system integration benefits, is driving the rapid adoption of MachXO2 devices by customers worldwide in a variety of end markets including consumer, communications, computing, industrial and medical.”
The Design Challenge will take place in three phases: Conceptual Design, Design, and Voting. Judges will choose up to 15 semifinalists in phase one and then up to five finalists in phase two. Each semifinalist will receive a free Pico Development Kit, a $49 value. Social community members will then vote for the Grand Prize Winner, who will be awarded $3,000. Each registered community member who participates in the Voting phase will be eligible to win at random one of ten $100 prizes.
About the MachXO2 PLD family Lattice MachXO2 devices provide designers of low density PLDs a mix of low cost, low power, and high system integration in a single device. Built on a low power 65-nm process featuring embedded Flash technology, the MachXO2 family delivers a 3X increase in logic density, a 10X increase in embedded memory, more than a 100X reduction in static power to as low as 19uW and up to 30% lower cost compared to the prior generation MachXO PLD family.
These devices are ideal for control PLD applications in end markets such as telecom infrastructure, computing, high end industrial, high end medical, and low power applications such as smart phones, GPS devices and digital cameras.
