Global Foundry has been moving aggressively in this alliance with many companies. I this is the only way it could execute and have a chance to compete.

Right step in right direction. GF is already giving tough time to TSMC, and adding Package partnership definitely be a big plus. But GF so far is lagging in 28nm node. Also with AMD instability its bit in flux.They soon need to win business to fill their fab.
