LONDON – Embedded memory intellectual property licensor eMemory Technology Inc. has announced that both the NeoBit and NeoFlash non-volatile memory technologies will be manufacturable by foundry chipmaker Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and production is being developed on a 130-nm process.
NeoBit is a one-time programmable technology while NeoFlash is a many-time programmable technology. Grace will provide design service support for the OTP and MTP IPs which are suitable additions to microcontrollers and consumer electronics chips, eMemory said.
Grace and eMemory began their partnership in 2005 with a one-time programmable process platform on 180-nm. The newly expanded partnership will now include MTP memory on 180-nm as well as pushing OTP memory down to 130-nm.
"Moving forward, Grace will continue to develop value-added and differentiated processes that help our customers seize winning opportunities in the microcontroller and consumer electronics markets," said Frank Fu, vice president of corporate development, strategy and legal at Grace, in a statement.
Grace Semiconductor and eMemory Technology’s 0.18 micron logic and high voltage OTP process platforms are fully built, and has been in production for many years. The 130-nm OTP process platform is estimated to pass qualification by the end of 2011. The 180-nm MTP process platform is expected to pass qualification by the end of 1Q12.
