SAN FRANCISCO—Chip vendor Microsemi Corp. said Thursday (Jan. 19) it acquired Maxim Integrated Products Inc.'s telecom clock generation, synchronization, packet timing and synthesis business. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Microsemi (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) said the acquired product lines are important to the effective and efficient delivery of voice, data and multimedia traffic over wireless and wired networks.
James Peterson, Microsemi's president and CEO, said through a statement that the acquired products complement the synchronization and timing products Microsemi obtained when it acquired Zarlink Semiconductor Inc. last September.
"We believe the two pieces fit like a glove and allow us to better serve our customers with the broadest high-end synchronization and timing technology portfolio in the market today," Peterson said.
