This is the trend of the future - the processing needs for LTE and beyond are so much higher that the traditional macro base-station architectures are running out of processing capacity. It makes sense to consolidate all the heavy processing into a datacenter connected to a large sea if small cells. ALU did announce a similar liquid radio architecture sometime back.
