This is an interesting and well written article. I think I just got a "future flash"! Now that we're seeing the "internet of things" developing, the next big thing will be the Robots of things. We'll see small bots for different home tasks like brooming, picking up the dishes, doing the laundry, etc. I do hope this comes quick as I hate washing the dishes. Just kidding ;)

So what you are saying is that the market potential is high for non-automation type of service robots, but there may be a lot of competition? I would think that the factory automation sector is pretty crowded currently. I have not really seem many enterprise level service robots in my day to day. What are the current roles that are being filled by enterprise robots?

Not that a good strategy. They should focus on enterprise robotics. It is out there and the competition could be high.

I wonder what they will be doing? Given the increased power of the OMAP devices and iRobot's product lines it makes me think that they want to get into the industrial automation arena. What kind of product would they build? Makes me curious.
