I agree with agk. I think India is consuming the chips indirectly by consumimg the end products. I don't think India is manufacturing so many tablet PC's, mobiles and LCD TVs.

The article mentioned that a lot of manufacturers are building facilities in India, resulting in the increase of semi-conductor consumption. There is no doubt that manufacturers are expanding their territories to various countries. India and Vietnam are among the countries. As India's semiconductor consumption is projected to raise to $9.2b in 2012. How does it compare to China's? What about the other countries such as Vietnam and Malaysia?

Most of the items mentioned by the author are being made in China and sold in India. There fore i feel India is not the true consumer of semiconductor devices. Actually China consumes it.

India is among the largest electronics market it is a fact the most of the semiconductor devices and electronics products are being imported in India. But if the government can provide a positives to the contract manufacturing the figures shown in the reports will change drastically. In India Gujarat state is very dynamic in hosting the industries, within a very short period of time it has become the Hub of Automobile Industries, the same thing can also happen true if some electronics giant approaches Government of Gujarat, as the 90% if the defined Electronics Zone if unoccupied in Gujarat. It is a great opportunity for the Manufactures in India if the business model clicks them.

This is not surprising. I would guess that China is also up there. I guess that "assumption" in the first paragraph is suposed to be "consumption".
