10 minutes using the revised J1772 EV connector spec published by
the Society of Automotive Engineers.
J1772 connector spec originally defined AC Level
1 and AC Level 2 charge levels and specified a conductive charge
coupler and electrical interfaces for AC Level 1 and AC Level 2
charging. The new revision, announced Monday (Oct. 15),
incorporates DC charging, defining DC Level 1 and DC Level 2 charge
levels, charge coupler and electrical interfaces.
Thanks to the addition of DC charging capability, the charging
time can be cut to as short as 10-20 minutes, according to SAE.
