News & Analysis
You’re attending DESIGN West, April 22-25, to learn and grow your skills, but you might as well have a
little fun while you are there, too.
There’s tons going on at the conference – from inspiring
to hands-on learning and
educational panels, to celebrations like the ACE Awards and 2013 Engineers Choice Awards, and more. You can also visit the DESIGN West website, its sessions schedule builder, and registration page. Here, we’ve collected a small sampling of the imaginative sessions and fun activities that put
engineering to perhaps unexpected use and in new lights.
Put on your wireless mesh thinking cap
Synapse Wireless is designing and building 250 wireless mesh networked propeller beanie hats. Known

Mounting the beanie-cap's signature propeller to the little DC motor proved to be an interesting
challenge, one that you’ll find out more about in this session. Read more about CapNet here and here.
