It’s easy to associate Panasonic’s brand name with lithium ion batteries because of the company’s products that operate on batteries.
But it’s harder to recognize Panasonic as an industry leader in batteries, especially those used in hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
However, among the company's customers is Ford, where Panasonic is supplying batteries for the Ford's Fusion Hybrid Electric, C-Max Hybrid Electric, Fusion Energi and C-Max Energy plug-in hybrids. Also, the new Tesla Model S electric car uses lithium-ion batteries from Panasonic.
Panasonic claims that it’s committed to pushing the development and commercialization of high performance rechargeable batteries for clean-emissions vehicles.
