Life360's Family Tracker app is free for iOS and Android, and most of the basic services and features are also free. I'm not seeing the big revenue stream here.

I feel that, by 2017 more advanced applications following Life360 loaded on the more advanced smart phones are going to replace the seperate personal tracking devices.

GPS has come a long way. Today I was walking in the woods with my iPhone looking for the intersection of three state boundaries on Google maps. When I thought I was close, I looked up and the small concrete marker was within 10 feet of me. Once they are affordable, one great addition to small embedded GPS systems would be a "talk back capability". When you get close to your missing object, if you could remotely trigger a request for it to beep or blink, it would be easy to find. Time for a new protocol?
