Tyco Electronics has expanded its distribution relationship with Arrow Electronics Inc., giving Arrow the franchise to sell its AMP interconnect products, as well as other lines.
Tyco, which has acquired several interconnect and passive-component manufacturers in the last 18 months, has been overhauling its distribution strategy, and company officials indicated that they will continue to do so in coming weeks.
Arrow, Melville, N.Y., represents several other Tyco product lines, including Potter & Brumfield and Raychem.
Arrow already represents AMP and other Tyco lines in Europe, said Juergen Gromer, president of Tyco Electronics, Harrisburg, Pa.
"We have aggressive growth plans, and Arrow's outstanding position as a global leader will help us reach our objectives," Gromer said.
Arrow also sells for some of Tyco's biggest competitors, including Amphenol Corp., Framatome Connectors International, and Molex Corp., according to Arrow's Web site.
