The Electronic Components, Assemblies and Materials Association (ECA) has launched a Web resource center to act as a central information hub for the electronics industry.
The main features of the free portal (www.ec-central.org) include direct links to product listings; late-breaking news affecting the electronic components industry, with links to online publications providing the full stories; information about the impact of new technologies; and a calendar of conferences, seminars, and industry events, according to the Arlington, Va., group.
Additionally, users will have access to online statistics and trends from several market research firms, namely Bishop & Associates, CRU International, Paumanok Publications, Stanford Resources, Technology Forecasters, Venture Development Corp., and World Information Technologies.
Research will be available on various segments of the industry such as wire and cable, capacitors, resistors, electronic displays, electronic manufacturing services, relays, switches, transformers, and inductors, said ECA, which is the electronic components sector of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA).
ECA's online center also taps into resources available through EIA and its other sector associations representing consumer electronics, telecommunications, government electronics and information technology, and solid-state technology.
The organization expects the site to be fully operational by the end of the year. ECA represents manufacturers and producers of passive and active electronic components, component arrays and assemblies, and materials and support services.
