Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Tuesday introduced its Athlon MP 2800+ processor for entry-level one- and two-way servers and workstations.
The new MPU, with 512Mbytes of L2 cache, has the highest on-die cache of any AMD MP processor, according to the Sunnyvale, Calif., chipmaker.
The processor is also said to be AMD's highest performing chip in its MP family, supplementing the existing MP 2600+ device. It has a clock frequency of 2.133GHz with a front side processor bus of 266MHz. The MPU supports up to DDR333 memory.
The MP 2800+ is available in production immediately and is priced at $275 in 1,000-unit quantities.
