PLEASANTON, CALIF -- CPU Technology Inc. today (Aug. 28, 2003) announced it has won the contract to develop prototype devices for a new central air data computer (CADC) for the F-16 fighter aircraft.
Utilizing its commercial SoC (system-on-a-chip) technology, CPU Technology will produce the internal electronics of this new computer system, which will be housed in the original chassis.
The effort is focused on solving the component obsolescence and roll-back issues of the U.S. Air Force's inventory of CADC computers. The new design based on SoC technology will provide the additional benefit of increased capability and reliability of the CADC.
"Integrating CPU Tech's SoC technology into new system designs gives the defense establishment access to both the latest commercial technology and its associated economical advantages," said Ed King chairman and CEO of the company.
