February 13, 2001 -- Amkor Technology Inc. (Chandler, AZ) announced new IC testing centers in San Jose, CA, and Wichita, KS, to expand its contract test development activities in North America.
The San Jose center will assist customers in moving products to Amkor's high-volume assembly and testing plants in Asia, and it will focus on high-end digital ICs and mixed-signal devices. The Wichita development center will focus on strip-test development, Amkor said.
Both centers are scheduled to add additional automatic test equipment (ATE) platforms to their operations in 2001. The overall objective of the two new U.S. centers is to improve customers' time to market for high-volume products, said Joe Holt, vice president of Amkor's Worldwide Test Services division in Chandler.
