MANHASSET, N.Y. Anadigics Inc. recorded a net loss of $11.7 million on revenue of $22.7 million in the second quarter, up 7% sequentially from the previous quarter vs. guidance of a 5% increase. In the year-ago quarter, the Warren, N.J. supplier of wireless and broadband devices posted a net loss of $13.7 million on sales of $18.0 million.
The second-quarter loss includes $0.8 million of costs associated with a workforce reduction and closure of a design facility.
Broadband revenue rose 23% sequentially and 35% year-over-year to $12.2 million, while wireless revenue was $10.5 million, down 7% sequentially but 17% higher than a year ago as customers experienced CDMA component shortages.
For the third quarter, Anadigics expects revenue to increase 6 to 12% sequentially as handset shipments for the holiday season begin in September.
