SAN DIEGO -- Zucotto Systems Inc., a startup focusing on Java-based wireless communications processors, has added three top executives to its management team.
Leigh J. Price joins Zucotto as chief financial officer. Price, formerly CFO of IBM Microelectronics' San Diego Division, held various financial positions within IBM Microelectronics including managing business alliances, technology licensing and joint ventures. Price also directed financial management within IBM's Microprocessor Group, including the IBM-Motorola PowerPC venture and IBM's Semiconductor Development Group, which developed IBM's advanced copper interconnect and silicon-on-insulator (SOI) semiconductor technologies.
Tim Rahrer has been named director of emerging technologies. He will be responsible for bringing Zucotto's Java-based semiconductors, Bluetooth, and wireless technologies into conformance with international standards. His background includes extensive experience at Bell-Northern Research and Nortel Networks as a senior architect for system-on-chip architectures and services delivery
mechanisms for embedded devices. Rahrer holds two patents with four pending in areas of user interface technologies and services architectures.
Donna Fremed also has joined Zucotto as human resources advisor reporting directly to CEO Mark Wells, to provide corporate guidelines, rapid hiring and managed growth for Zucotto's R&D Headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario and in San Diego. Formerly of Sony Corp., Fremed has worked with Qualcomm's Personal Electronics and Sony Wireless for the startup of the Sony-Qualcomm joint venture.
