SAN JOSE -- Asant Technologies Inc. here announced it has chosen IBM Corp. as a key technology supplier to build its next-generation family of IntraCore Networks products. The next-generation IntraCore routing switches will incorporate IBM's high-performance network processor and switch fabric technologies as part of their core design.

The new products represent the next phase of development based on the company's IntraCore Architecture and will deliver Layer 3 and above switching solutions for enterprise and service provider customers.
After evaluating a number of potential suppliers, Asant selected the IBM Network Processor, the complementary IBM Packet Routing Switch and other related technologies, for its forthcoming switched networking solutions.
The IBM Power Network Processor is an advanced design that integrates 16 communications processors on one chip. It offers micro-programming capability and a cost-effective way to perform complex networking tasks at wire speed. The IBM Packet Routing Switch is an engine for high-throughput switch applications and enables non-blocking, scalable switch fabrics from 28.4 to 227.2 gigabits per second.
