SANTA ANA, Calif.--Microsemi Corp. here has announced a new Schottky diode that is designed to be an alternative to MOSFETs in portable battery chargers, DC-DC converters, and snubber circuits.
"In the past, circuit designers were forced to use more complicated and cost-prohibitive solutions to get higher efficiency," said Manuel Lynch, marketing director for Microsemi. "By opting for the LSM115J, they can increase efficiency as much as 20% with no price penalty."
The new Schottky diode is rated at 1 amp, 15 volt. The LSM115J device comes in a modified DO214BA surface mount package, with other packaging available in either surface mount oraxial lead formats. Microsemi said it designed the LSM115J for low power and low voltage charging and output signal rectification. Typical applications are on power supplies for battery powered products that require faster charging times and higher efficiency.
