SAN JOSE -- T.J. Rodgers, CEO of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. here, was elected board chairman of the Semicnductor Industry Association on Wednesday, and John Kelly III of IBM Corp. as vice chairman for the 1999-2000 year.
"In the new millennium, the SIA will further expand its efforts to increase the competitiveness of U.S. semiconductor companies, remove international trade barriers and foster technology programs to grow our industry," said SIA president George Scalise. "T.J.'s and John's experience, passion and leadership will be a major asset to our industry and the board".
Scalise praised outgoing chairman Ray Stata of Analog Devices Inc. "Due to his tremendous leadership and the efforts of otherboard members, the SIA achieved its Y2K legislative goal this year and increased cooperative programs with the chip industries in China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Europe," said Scalise. "In the United States, we continued to provide leadership on workforce and education issues, technology development and environmental, safety and health programs."
